Chirwa, who is known for her outspoken nature, revealed that she was unable to attend the vote during the budget speech as her 4-month-old daughter fell ill on the day. In a statement released on her social media platforms, Chirwa expressed regret for missing the important vote and acknowledged that her absence may have had an impact on the outcome.

As part of the sanctions imposed by the EFF leadership, Chirwa has committed to purchasing two gazebos before the end of March. This move is in line with the party’s practice of imposing fines or sanctions on MPs who fail to fulfill their parliamentary duties. The gazebos are typically used for various events and activities organized by the EFF.

Chirwa’s public apology and willingness to accept the party’s sanctions have been met with mixed reactions from the public and political commentators. Some have praised her for taking responsibility for her actions, while others have criticized the party’s decision to impose such sanctions on its members.
