Khumalo’s suspension came after a faction of the party, allegedly loyal to former President Jacob Zuma, sought to oust him from his leadership position. However, Khumalo maintains that he remains the legitimate leader of the MK Party and that his suspension is invalid.

“I am still a member and leader of the uMkhonto weSizwe Party,” Khumalo asserted. “The party’s constitution and policies are clear, and they do not allow for the arbitrary removal of leaders.”

Khumalo’s statement has sparked debate within the party, with some members supporting his position and others backing the faction that sought his suspension. The MK Party has been plagued by internal divisions and power struggles since its formation, and Khumalo’s suspension has only added to the turmoil
