The wife of late EMPD officer Banele Skhosana was arrested yesterday in Kwa Thema in connection with her husband’s murder.
Skhosana was shot and killed last week, while opening his tuckshop. The deceased’s wife was arrested at the Sikhones family home amidst funeral preparations. The funeral was set to take place today, on Saturday.
The wife is suspected to have hired hitman to murder her husband, two months after their lobola negotiations.
The police arrested two suspects last week, one is a hitman who confessed to murdering Skhosana. The suspect told EMPD Acting Chief, Julius Mkhwanazi that they were hired and paid by Sikhosane’s wife to kill him.
The Skhosana family and police reported that this was not the first attempt on the deceased’s life. According to reports, his wife had previously tried to poison him.
The suspects are set to appear in court on Monday, while one remains at large. However, Mkhwanazi expressed confidence that an arrest will be made soon.
