The Umkhonto WeSizwe Party (MKP) has accused journalists Qaanitah Hunter from Newzroom Afrika and Soyiso Maliti from News24 of incompetence and unethical conduct in a recent statement
In a recent interview with Thabo Mdluli, journalist Qaanitah Hunter described Isaac Leshona as an aide to MKP president Jacob Zuma. However, the MKP insists that Leshona was only an assistant.
Isaac Leshona was removed from his ancillary position nearly seven months ago. He is neither the Private Secretary of President Zuma nor an authoritative voice on MK Party affairs,” said the MKP.
The party claims that Hunter had the opportunity to ask the National Spokesperson about Leshona’s role in the MKP during a call but chose not to.

Leshona quickly responded to the statement, saying, “For the record, I have never received any communication about my dismissal, whether in writing, verbally, or otherwise. Let alone for incompetence.”
The MKP accused Hunter and Maliti of being “so-called journalists” who act as “hired mercenaries serving a corrupt establishment” and contribute to the decline of journalistic ethics in South Africa.
The party also described Hunter as “a shameless mouthpiece for Cyril Ramaphosa and the DA-ANC coalition.”
The MPK said that they are working on lodging a formal complaint with the Press Ombudsman on the journalists and their media houses.
