Renowned neo-soul singer and songwriter Angie Stone tragically passed away on March 1, 2025, at the age of 63. The fatal accident occurred around 4 a.m. near Montgomery, Alabama, as Stone and her band members were traveling back to Atlanta following a performance in Mobile.

Her daughter, Diamond, who is also a performer, announced her passing on Facebook with the heartfelt message, “My mommy is gone,” accompanied by a series of crying emojis.
According to Stone’s representative, she had just finished a performance when the tragic accident took place, as reported by TMZ.
Their Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van overturned on Interstate 65 and was subsequently struck by a big rig. Stone was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other passengers survived and were transported to a medical center.
Born Angela Laverne Brown on December 18, 1961, in Columbia, South Carolina, Stone’s musical journey began in the late 1970s with the pioneering female hip-hop trio, The Sequence. The group gained recognition with their hit single “Funk You Up,” which reached number 15 on the US Top Black Singles chart. Transitioning to a solo career, Stone released her debut album, “Black Diamond,” in 1999, featuring notable tracks such as “No More Rain (In This Cloud).” Her 2001 album “Mahogany Soul” included her most famous song, “Wish I Didn’t Miss You.”
Throughout her career, Stone released a total of ten solo albums, with her music spanning collaborations with notable artists such as D’Angelo, Alicia Keys, Missy Elliott, and Snoop Dogg. Her versatility extended beyond music; she ventured into acting, appearing in films like “The Hot Chick” (2002) and “Ride Along” (2014), as well as television series including “Moesha” and “Girlfriends.”
In addition to her well-known hits, Stone’s discography boasts other remarkable songs that showcase her soulful artistry. “Brotha,” from the “Mahogany Soul” album, stands as a heartfelt tribute to African American men, blending smooth melodies with empowering lyrics.
