‘The North God’ DA LES suffers a severe stroke

The family of renowned South African Musician Jonathan Mampe JR AKA DA LES is in recovery after suffering a stroke on Friday 26 July. The musician was turning 39 on Friday.

He had a celebration event scheduled on the night. However a notice on Instagram was written which states ” That due to unforeseen circumstances DA LES will unfortunately not be in attendance at his birthday celebration this evening”.

Da L.E.S, born Leslie Jonathan Mampe Jr, was raised in a musical family and exposed to diverse genres from a young age. He gained fame in the early 2000s as a member of Jozi, a hip-hop group.

After the group disbanded, he launched a solo career with his debut album Fresh 2 Def in 2010. His 2013 hit single ‘Fire’ brought widespread recognition, followed by successful albums Mandela Money (2014) and Diamond in Africa (2016). Da L.E.S is renowned for his distinctive fusion of hip-hop, trap, and African rhythms, and has collaborated with notable artists like Kwesta, Gemini Major, and the late AKA.

The family of the Rapper released a statement informing the public about the rapper suffering a stroke.

“The family of the renowned South African musician Da Les is deeply saddened to inform the public that he suffered a stroke at home on Friday, 26 July 2024 and has been hospitalised.

His family calls on the public to keep him in their thoughts and prayers as they navigate this difficult period
