The uMkhonto weSizwe (MK) Party has issued a statement strongly condemning AfriForum and Solidarity, accusing them of collaborating with foreign powers to undermine South Africa’s sovereignty. The party alleges that these organizations are seeking external interference to exert political and economic pressure on the country.

The MK Party describes the actions of AfriForum and Solidarity as “treasonous”, saying that these groups refuse to accept South Africa as a free and sovereign nation. According to the party, these organizations still hold onto colonial and apartheid-era mindsets and are attempting to use foreign influence to advance their own interests.

These racist organizations have been emboldened by the so-called Government of National Unity (GNU), which is nothing more than a front for the Democratic Alliance (DA),” the statement read. The MK Party claims that the DA, which it calls a party of white privilege and capitalist interests, is using the GNU to push its own agenda while President Cyril Ramaphosa and the ANC serve as mere puppets

The MK Party has formally lodged a criminal case with the South African Police Service (SAPS), calling for the immediate arrest and prosecution of AfriForum and Solidarity leaders on treason charges. The party insists that their actions are an ongoing crime against the people of South Africa and that law enforcement must act swiftly.

To this end, the MK Party has announced that it will be writing to SAPS to demand an explanation for why these individuals “are still roaming free”, despite the case already being lodged. The party argues that failing to take action against them undermines justice and allows them to continue their destabilization efforts.

In addition to legal action, the MK Party is calling on all progressive forces, grassroots movements, and patriotic South Africans, especially the black majority, to stand together against what it describes as racist provocateurs. The party emphasized that South Africans must defend their country’s sovereignty and reject any external interference.

“This is the only home we have,” the statement concluded, urging unity in the fight against those who, in its view, seek to weaken South Africa from within.

The situation is likely to fuel further debate about the role of civil organizations in international advocacy, the power dynamics within the GNU, and the broader question of national sovereignty in South Africa’s political landscape.
