On Sunday morning, a security guard was badly hurt during a break-in at a factory in Missionlands, KwaZulu-Natal. While on duty, the security officer reported hearing noises coming from the industrial premises he was guarding and decided to investigate.
Shortly after, a female security guard noticed that her male colleague was being attacked and immediately called for help.
The Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) responded to the scene almost immediately, finding the male security officer bleeding, while he apprehended the suspect.
The security officer reported seeing someone climb a tree into the factory premises. After losing sight of the person, he began searching and discovered that the building had been forcibly entered. While attempting to apprehend the suspect, he was struck on the head with a rock and stabbed. The suspect also sustained serious injuries.
The 29-year-old suspect was restrained and arrested by RUSA.
