During a coordinated takedown operation in Johannesburg, Gauteng police have apprehended five illegal individuals and confiscated counterfiet commodities valued at R13 million.
On Wednesday, a group of South African Police Service (SAPS) officers from different units, representatives from the South African Revenue Services (SARS), and security firms operationalized data and went to three designated addresses in the central business district of Johannesburg.
(SAPS) has seized counterfeit goods to the value of R13 million in the Joburg CBD. Officers also arrested five undocumented suspects during the integrated takedown
During the operation, more than 18,000 counterfeit goods, including watches, purses, shoes, caps, and clothes, were found, the team also dismantled a hidden manufacturing plant and storage facility where counterfeit goods were distributed to shops in and around JHB.
Police also seized large quantities of counterfeit items including a computer hard drive, silk screening and laser cutting machines.”
Suspects are expected to appear before the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court soon.
