President Cyril Ramaphosa has ordered the deployment of 2,900 South African National Defence Force (SANDF) personnel to assist in the fight against illegal armed groups in the eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).
The presidency announced late on Monday night that this fulfills South Africa’s international responsibility to the Southern African Development Community’s (SADC) mission in the country.
