JOHANNESBURG – President Cyril Ramaphosa has cautioned African National Congress (ANC) members against engaging in leadership contests and lobbying, emphasizing that the party’s focus should be on rebuilding and advancing the national democratic revolution.
The ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa was making closing remarks of the Special National Executive Committee (NEC) which was held at Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg, Ekurhuleni.
In the statement, Ramaphosa stressed that the ANC’s National Executive Committee (NEC) views such maneuvers as destructive and distracting from the party’s core objectives.
“There will be a time for disciplined discussions and engagement on leadership succession issues, but now is not that time,” Ramaphosa said.
The President pointed out that the ANC’s next national conference is scheduled for 2027, providing ample time to address leadership matters.
“Right now, our priority must be rebuilding the organization,” Ramaphosa emphasized, urging ANC members to concentrate on strengthening the party.
