Newly elected president Donald J. Trump announced the ‘one flag policy,’ banning the LGBTQ pride flags in government buildings.
Trump announced that the United States government will now only recognize two sexes, male and female, as unchangeable. On Monday, President Donald Trump issued this order while taking steps to roll back a range of policies aimed at promoting racial equity and protecting LGBTQ+ rights.
The order mandates that the government use the term “sex” instead of “gender” and stipulates that government-issued identification documents, such as passports and visas, must reflect an individual’s “immutable biological classification as either male or female.”
Just hours after taking office, Trump canceled two executive orders signed by former President Biden on his first day in office four years ago. One order was meant to promote racial equity for underserved communities, and the other aimed to address discrimination based on gender identity or sexual orientation.
