President Cyril Ramaphosa has officially requested the Speaker of the National Assembly, Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula, and the Chairperson of the National Council of Provinces, Amos Masondo, to convene a Joint Sitting of the two Houses for 2024
Parliament is set to host two State of the Nation Address (SONA) sessions in the same year. The second session is set to take place following the elections, and will serve as the newly elected government’s official opening of Parliament.
Moloto Mothapo, Parliament’s spokesperson, announced in a statement that preparations are ongoing to inaugurate the 7th democratically elected Parliament following the elections.
