Angie Motshekga on Goma Update

The Minister of Defence and Military Veterans Angie Motshekga says that at no stage did the army generals say that they did not have any more ammunition.

Motshekga says that she went to Goma and had a briefing with all of the generals. She says that the army’s reinforcement is on the basis that the situation in Goma has escalated, and they cannot risk not having enough ammunition.

The minister further explains that they then spoke to the National Council of Arms to let them know of the dire situation the troops are facing in Congo, hence the reinforcement. She says it is important to ensure that all of the troops do not reach a state where they run out of supplies.

Furthermore, Motshekga ensures the public that the soldiers have the full support of the Department of Defence and that all of their needs will be met.
