A reckless and negligent driving case was opened by Western Cape police following a crash involving three vehicles on the N2 near Plettenberg Bay on Wednesday morning.
Sergeant Christopher Spies, the police spokesperson, said that an Intercape bus, an SUV and a truck had smashed into each other at the Alkantmooi turn-off, close to Keurbooms, where Plettenberg Bay police were on the scene.
He said that the ongoing police investigation would determine the cause of the accident.
More than 30 bus passengers and the truck driver were injured, according to Muneera Allie, the spokesperson for the Western Cape mobility department.
She said that the incident was under investigation and that there were no fatalities, but many people were hurt.
The department said that there were 52 passengers on the bus.
Intercape said that the bus was travelling from Port Elizabeth and that the cars ahead of it had stopped suddenly to take a turn off, without giving any indication or warning.
