This project, made possible by a partnership between Mogale City, Eskom, and the Department of Mineral Resources and Energy, shows how teamwork between government bodies can improve services. By bringing electricity to neglected areas, the municipality is helping to fix past inequalities and ensure that all residents, no matter where they live, have access to basic needs.

Mayor Sele stressed the importance of this project, saying, “Real leadership means ensuring fair service delivery. This initiative is a promise that no community will be left behind.” The electrification project supports Mogale City’s vision for sustainable growth, making it easier for residents to access essential services without traveling long distances, sometimes over 20 kilometers.

The impact of electrification extends beyond convenience; it is a catalyst for socio-economic growth. Reliable electricity supply enables students to study in well-lit environments, supports entrepreneurs in expanding their businesses, and improves healthcare services by powering essential medical
equipment.

This project is a turning point for Hekpoort’s long-overlooked residents. By focusing on rural development, Mogale City is creating a fairer economy and opening up opportunities for lasting success.
