
The uMkhonto WeSizwe Party (MKP) officially unveiled its new leadership collectives for the province of KwaZulu-Natal in uMhlanga on Friday. This follows a fully constituted meeting held by the National Officials on 21 January 2025.
The province of KZN played a pivotal role in the 2024 general elections , contributing 45,35 percent of votes towards the party. Despite being the official opposition party in the province, MK Party has cemented itself as the most supported political force in KwaZulu-Natal.
Amid the wake of political challenges and structural changes since it’s formation, the party has worked to address leadership shifts across various regions. The decision to appoint new leadership collectives aims to strengthen the party’s foothold while facing difficulties with renewed discipline and focus.
Appointed Convenor as Willis Mchunu, along with the Deputy Convenor Lynette Zwane and Coordinator as Sibusiso Xulu, were among the top eight provincial detachment.
Secretary-General Floyd Shivambu made remarks on their victory during last year’s general elections.
The ANC was defeated conclusively here in the province of KwaZulu-Natal on the 29th of May, it has got no chances of recovery. It will never recover, there’s no possibility of the ANC recovering
Shivambu also said that they are very confident about the announced national, provincial and regional detachments as they won’t be involved in factionalism , parallel structures or any wrongdoing.
