Mk party vows to fight court ruling baring Hlophe from JSC interviews

POLITICSTOP STORIES

The MK Party has condemned the Johannesburg High Court’s decision to bar Dr. John Hlophe from participating in the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) interviews, scheduled to commence on October 7, 2024.

In a statement the party expressed disappointment and frustration with the ruling, which they believe validates their argument that the Western Cape High Court’s interim interdict has a substantial impact.

“The outcome of yesterday’s ruling prevents both the MK Party and Dr. Hlophe from exercising their right to participate in the crucial interviews, thus permanently infringing on that right as per Section 178 of the Constitution,” the statement read.

The MK Party has announced its intention to pursue all available legal remedies to challenge Dr. Hlophe’s exclusion. They have postponed their planned picket, initially scheduled for October 7, 2024, until further notice.”We remain steadfast in pursuing all legal remedies available to us… We are confident that the legal route will serve our objectives at this stage,” the party stated.

The MK Party Calls for Calm and Future Protest

The MK Party has urged its members and supporters to remain calm and patient, trusting in the legal process. However, they hinted at future mass protest action, stating, “When the time comes, we will issue a clarion call for mass protest action.”

Mk Party’s Reaction

The MK Party views the current JSC interviews as happening under a “dark cloud of exclusion” and is committed to fighting for a fair and transparent judicial process.

“We thank our members for their continued discipline, support, and solidarity as we fight to uphold our rights and ensure a fair and transparent judicial process,” the party concluded.

The JSC interviews are set to proceed as scheduled, amidst controversy surrounding Dr. Hlophe’s exclusion.
