KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Education, Sipho Hlomuka visited Lihlithemba Technical School as part of the province’s school functionality monitoring programme on Thursday. This initiative, conducted annually, aims to assess schools’ progress, infrastructure, and overall learning environment to ensure a smooth and productive academic year.Â
During his visit, MEC Hlomuka praised the school’s management, teachers, learners, and members of the School Governing Body (SGB) for their collective efforts in improving the school’s performance. He acknowledged the challenges Lihlithemba Technical School had faced in previous years and commended the teamwork that contributed to its transformation.Â
Lihlithemba Technical School was not performing well in previous years due to certain challenges, but now the school is improving. We thank the teachers, the principal, the school governing board, and the community for working together to make the school successful. Today, the school is respected.
Beyond academics, the MEC emphasised the importance of extracurricular activities in learners’ holistic development. He welcomed the introduction of sports and music at the school, which now provides learners with opportunities to compete at both local and international levels.Â
We encourage and motivate our learners that as much as they are here to learn, they must also focus on activities that give them energy because that will also help their learning process.
The school’s transformation stands as a testament to the power of collaboration between educators, parents, and the community. With continued support and investment, Lihlithemba Technical School is on track to producing well-rounded learners equipped with both academic knowledge and extracurricular skills.Â
The school functionality monitoring programme will continue across various districts in KwaZulu-Natal, ensuring that schools receive the necessary support to sustain and enhance educational standards.
