The Ngema family has announced that a memorial service for veteran playwright, Mbongeni Ngema will be held next Wednesday, at the Durban Playhouse.In a statement, the family said his funeral is to be held next Friday at a venue still to be confirmed.

“The Ngema family and committed artists would like to thank the public and media for the outpouring of grief and continuous coverage since the sudden passing of Dr Ngema. The family recognises that Dr Ngema was not exclusively theirs, for he belonged to the entire people of South Africa, and indeed the international community,”
Ngema died this week after a car crash involving a truck on the R61 at Bizana in the Eastern Cape.
