
Marumo Gallants are through to the Nedbank Cup Last 16 after beating Pretoria Callies 1-0 in Atteridgeville. Even though they had only 10 players, Mphambaniso scored an exciting last-minute goal in extra time (90+), winning the game for Siwelele Sa Marumo.
Marumo Gallants became the first team to book themselves in the round of 16. The visitors only started to settle themselves midway through the first half after Kamohelo Mahlatsi had a shot in the box that was smothered by the goalkeeper King Ndlovu.
The second half of Marumo Gallant started as a downfall as Shai received his second yellow followed by a red card, Callies started to boss up the game creating threatening opportunities, when Marumo replaced Mokobodi with Mphambaniso flashed Callies dreams of going through the Nedbank knockout cup.
Callies will now focus on their National First Division campaign as they will be playing the University of Pretoria in the Tshwane Derby on the 2 February whilst Gallant will have something to boost them when they play the Premier Soccer League game against the KZN side Richards Bay on 4th of February.
