In a detailed conversation with Professor JJ Tabane, Julius Malema opened up about the political hurdles the EFF has faced since its formation. He spoke about how the MK Party, especially in key provinces like KZN, Gauteng, and Mpumalanga, diverted support away from the EFF. Malema also revealed that the party made significant efforts to get former President Jacob Zuma’s backing, believing that such an endorsement would have positioned the EFF much stronger today.

Malema’s frustration grew as he discussed the impact of new political parties. Instead of forming new groups, he stressed that strengthening existing progressive ones is the way forward for South Africa. According to Malema, unity among parties with similar goals would have a much larger impact on shaping the country’s future.

Despite the challenges, Malema stays hopeful and committed to pushing the EFF’s goals forward. He stressed that it is important for progressive political groups to work together in order to overcome difficulties and bring about the change South Africa needs for a better future.
