Kwaito Icon Sandile ‘Mapaputsi’ Ngwenya Laid to Rest in Johannesburg

Renowned kwaito artist Sandile Ngwenya, affectionately known as Mapaputsi, was laid to rest at West Park Cemetery in Johannesburg, surrounded by family, friends, fans, and fellow creatives. The Soweto-born music legend will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on through his iconic hits like “Izinja”, “Kleva”, and “My Love”

The funeral service was a vibrant celebration of song and dance, paying tribute to Ngwenya’s significant contribution to the kwaito genre and his enduring impact on the music industry. The gathering was a testament to the love and respect he earned throughout his career.

Among the attendees were prominent figures from various fields, including Ronnie Nyakale, Mercy Pakela, Israel Makoe, Motlatsi Mafatshe, DJ Sbu, Nhlanhla Lux, Dumisani Dlamini, Jairus Nkwe, former Joburg Mayor Kabelo Gwamanda, and Mzambiya.
