King Misuzulu Commemorates 146th Anniversary of Battle of Isandlwana with Keynote Address

Isandlwana Mountain came alive on Wednesday as King Misuzulu kaZwelithini delivered a keynote address marking the 146th anniversary of the Battle of Isandlwana. Thousands of people descended to the mountain in Nquthu to commemorate the Zulu victory over British forces in 1879.

In his address, the King extended his gratitude to everyone present, emphasizing the importance of the celebration. He described the year 2024 as a year of reflection on resilience displayed by the Zulu kingdom during one of its most significant battles.

On this day, the British had declared war on our people, knowingly attacking while they were engaged in prayer for Umkhosi Wokweshwama. However, the prayer continues as we hosted the celebration last week after five years since it was last celebrated.

Furthermore, the King addressed members of the media , clarifying that the event’s focus was solely on commemorating the Battle of Isandlwana. He noted that no discussions would take place regarding matters like Ingonyama Trust, Ithala issue ,or broader issues related to the Zulu kingdom governance.

The celebration reflected the legacy of the Battle of Isandlwana and it’s significance , serving a moment of pride for the Zulu kingdom.
