Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) President Julius Malema addressed border security and his party’s open border policy in a recent interview with Clement Manyathela on SABC News’ “Face the Nation.”
Malema referenced Gayton McKenzie’s attempt to chase Zimbabweans crossing into South Africa, highlighting the lack of border security. “Gayton McKenzie was running around the Limpopo River, trying to catch Zimbabweans, and almost got eaten by crocodiles,” Malema said. “But he unknowingly proved my point – there is no fence, so what’s this talk of a secure border?”
Malema has been vocal about his stance on immigration and African unity. he emphasized that all foreigners in South Africa should be integrated into the country and granted citizenship, rather than facing deportation.
The EFF president reaffirmed his party’s commitment to open borders, citing African unity and economic benefits. “We won’t change our stance on this,” Malema emphasized.
