Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed the signing of Jayden Adams from Stellenbosch FC. The talented Bafana Bafana midfielder has inked a 3.5-year deal with the Pretoria-based club, with an option to extend for two more years.

The exact transfer fee remains undisclosed, but reports from iDiski Times suggest the deal could be worth up to R20 million. Adams, who was previously linked with moves to Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, has opted to join the defending Betway Premiership champions, further strengthening their midfield.

Sundowns unveiled Adams through a video on their social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), stating: ”Jayden Adams is Yellow. New Year, New Colours. Masandawana, the speculation is over. It’s time to welcome our exciting new midfielder to the Yellow Nation.”

Adams, 23, played a key role in Stellenbosch’s victory in the inaugural Carling Black Label Cup last season. He was also part of Bafana Bafana’s squad that secured a bronze medal at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.

Mamelodi Sundowns are looking to maintain their dominance in South African football despite a less-than-perfect start to the season. By signing Adams, they’ve added another high-quality player to their already star-studded midfield.

Adams could make his debut in Sundowns’ upcoming Betway Premiership clash against Magesi FC on Wednesday, 22 January. Fans are eager to see how the young star will contribute to the team’s success.

With this move, Mamelodi Sundowns show their intent to remain at the top of South African football.
