Former Gauteng Provincial Secretary Hope Papo returns to Gauteng as coordinator of the reconfigured provincial structure following a meeting by the National Working Committee (NWC) of the African National Congress (ANC), held in Cape Town on Monday.

Papo served as the Gauteng Provincial Secretary under Chairperson Paul Mashatile during his last term before being elected Treasurer. In October 2014, during the ANC Gauteng’s 12th Provincial Conference, Papo was elected as provincial secretary with Mashatile re-elected as Chairperson.

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the African National Congress (ANC) has resorted to bringing back among others, Hope Papo to assist in rescuing the structures in the Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal provinces.

More changes are expected to resurface within the structure of the Gauteng and KwaZulu-Natal PECs as more veterans such as Mike Mabuyakhulu, Jeff Radebe, Amos Masondo and Hope Papo are expected to make a come back in the reconfigured provincial structure.

According to EWN, the NWC has appointed Papo as the convener in KwaZulu-Natal succeeding TK Nciza, while Masondo will take charge in Gauteng alongside Panyaza Lesufi.

After stepping down as deputy provincial chairperson amid corruption allegations but has been acquitted, Mabuyakhulu is anticipated to replace Bheki Mtolo in a restructured KZN PEC.
