Former African National Congress (ANC) Member of Parliament (MP) Ponani Makhubele has resigned from the party to join the uMkhonto weSizwe Party MK Party
Makhubele, who served as deputy branch chairperson in the Giyani area, cited feelings of isolation and discrimination within the ANC as reasons for her departure. She alleged victimization for challenging the manipulation of candidate lists during elections.
In 2011, Makhubele successfully took the ANC to court after her name was removed from the party list to parliament. Despite her victory, she claims to have faced similar issues in subsequent elections.

no longer felt at home in the ANC,” Makhubele stated. “I’ll continue to be an activist outside of the party.
The ANC’s provincial leadership has yet to comment on Makhubele’s resignation.
