Umkhonto weSizwe Party Undergoes Leadership Change
The uMkhonto weSizwe Party has announced a significant leadership change, following the resignation of Secretary General Commander Dr. Sifiso Maseko.
Maseko submitted his resignation letter to President Jacob Zuma on October 29, 2024, citing his desire to resume his duties as Chief Director at the Gauteng Department of Health
Maseko’s resignation comes after an internal disciplinary process at the Gauteng Department of Health, where he was on suspension. Despite stepping down as Secretary General, he will maintain his position within the National High Command, the party’s highest decision-making body.
President Jacob Zuma has appointed Nyiko Floyd Shivambu as the new Secretary General, effective immediately. Shivambu, formerly the National Organiser, will assume all responsibilities outlined in the MK Party Constitution
Jacob Zuma praised Dr. Maseko’s contributions to the organization and expressed confidence in Shivambu’s leadership abilities. Further changes to the party’s structure, particularly regarding the National Organiser role, are expected to be announced soon.
