“Leave the ‘Fossils’ of the Past Behind, Says Mmusi Maimane”
In a recent address, Build One SA leader Mmusi Maimane emphasized the need for South Africa to move beyond liberation politics and focus on building a prosperous future.
Maimane stressed that the country cannot afford to waste time dwelling on the past, particularly in the upcoming election. “Truly, in 2024, we have to move on from liberation politics. We have to stop discussing people like Jacob Zuma and so many others,” he said.
The Build One SA leader expressed concern that the African National Congress (ANC) has resorted to bringing out its former leaders in an attempt to regain relevance. Maimane believes this approach only serves to hinder progress and perpetuate a cycle of nostalgia.
Instead, Maimane urged South Africans to prioritize the future and engage in constructive discussions about the economy and the country’s development. “We have to focus on the future and talk about what economy we want to build. Let’s not waste this opportunity and this election talking about fossils. It’s time that we focus on the future,” he emphasized.
