Cape Town, 29 October 2025 – ANC Secretary-General Fikile Mbalula today announced the National Executive Committee’s (NEC) decision to reconfigure the party’s Western Cape Provincial Task Team (PTT), introducing a refreshed leadership collective tasked with revitalising the organisation in the province.
Speaking at a media briefing in Cape Town, Mbalula described the move as a “decisive step toward renewal and unity,” emphasising the NEC’s confidence in the newly appointed team to drive grassroots mobilisation and strengthen branch functionality.

Heading the reconfigured PTT is Ebrahim Rasool, former Western Cape Premier and South African Ambassador to the United States, who assumes the role of Convener. Rasool’s political experience and diplomatic acumen are expected to play a pivotal role in rebuilding the ANC’s presence in a province long dominated by the Democratic Alliance.
The full leadership structure, as confirmed by Mbalula, is as follows:
Convener: Ebrahim Rasool
1st Deputy Convener: Linda Moss
2nd Deputy Convener: Vuyiso Tyhalisisu
Coordinator: Thandi Manikivana Makasi
