Johannesburg – Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane, the former Public Protector of South Africa, has resigned from the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) party and Parliament, effective immediately.
Mkhwebane’s departure comes just months after joining the EFF in October 2023 and being sworn in as a Member of Parliament.
Her tenure as Public Protector from 2016 to 2023 was marred by controversy, court challenges, and criticism from various quarters.
