Seven Illegal Foreign Nationals Arrested in Benoni After R1.2 Million Hijacked Stock and Trailer Recovered by EMPD

Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department recovered R1.2 million worth of hijacked goods and a trailer on Friday morning, arresting seven foreign nationals aged 25 to 38. The operation followed a tip-off regarding a truck hijacked earlier that morning in Pretoria.

The EMPD Intervention Unit, working with Crime Intelligence and private security, intercepted the suspects at a plot on Gwendeleon Street in Petit.

Officers found the men offloading the hijacked trailer and uncovered additional stolen goods linked to a Dawn Park case from last month. The trailer owner was contacted to verify the recovered stock.

Fingerprints were processed at the Local Criminal Record Centre, and the trailer was impounded at Van Ryn for further investigation to track the origin of all hijacked items.

The seven men, all facing multiple charges including possession of a hijacked vehicle and stock, as well as violating the Immigration Act, remain in custody at Crystal Park Police Station. They are expected to appear soon in Benoni Magistrate’s Court.
