A 42-year old woman Dinah Botes from Rustenburg in the North West was sentenced to fifteen ’15’ years in prison after she was found guilty on 126 counts of theft.
Spokesperson for the Hawks in the province, Tinyiko Mathebula says investigations shows that between 2014 and 2019 she transferred nine million rand from the account of the mining company she was working for to her own personal bank accounts.
Following an investigation by the Hawks’ Rustenburg-based Serious Commercial Crime Investigation, a warrant of arrest was issued against her.
She appeared in court on the same day and was released on R30 000 bail. After making a series of court appearances, she was convicted and sentenced to 15 years for theft.
The North West Hawks Head, Major General Patrick Mbotho, lauded the investigation and prosecution team’s sterling work.
